En 1988, Chaka Khan —ganadora de 10 premios Grammy— grabó para su LP "CK" una preciosa versión de "The End of A Love Affair", un estándar con grandes versiones, desde Ella Fitzgerald ( a quien le estaba dedicada en el álbum) a Billie Holiday a quien menciona en esta versión en directo, pasando por Sinatra. La cantante tuvo un inmenso éxito acumulando seguidores desde los 70. Entre el soul y el funky, las raíces del jazz y sus maestras predecesoras están en temas como este estándar escrito por. Hay varias grabaciones videográficas en directo de este tema, lo que nos hace suponer que es uno de sus favoritos. Estaba incluido también en el Volumen 1 de sus Grandes Éxitos, "Epiphany: the best of Chaka Khan". Esta versión cuenta con la big band del Peter Herbolzheimer, un clásico del jazz en el panorama germano y pertenece al 20th Jubilee Tour con la Rhythm Combination & Brass, que tuvo a la cantante como invitada.
